The horses live wild to roam where they please, completely box free, with 3 stages of acclimation so we can take care of and cure horses when they are injured. Many of the horses are not tame, so gaining their trust takes time and consistency, especially as traditional ‘breaking’ methods are absolutely banned here.

The level of care we provide is a 24/7 365 days a year commitment. This rules out many and most other obligations and forms of gaining resources. We constantly need medicines, better infrastructure, transportation and food. It is absolutely critical that we are able to become a self-sustaining, holistic sanctuary. This is our ultimate goal as droughts and floods fracture our food systems, so to have enough versatile natural forage that we become autonomous in our life-sustaining endeavors is paramount. This severely restricts our ability to earn enough to pay for all that needs to be done. TLAO cannot survive without help.
