Come January 1st 2024 there will be a nationwide massacre of thousands of innocent dogs that fit a ‘type’ description that comes under the title of ‘XL Bully’. From that date it will be a criminal offence to own, breed, re-home or sell the ‘type’ without specific certification, rendering the dog and owner both criminals.

Dog owners across the UK are literally dumping their pets and family members on the streets, or even worse accepting a £200 government compensation fee to have their dogs executed for a crime they did not commit. The alternative offered to owners, which few are taking, is to register and apply for a certificate which would lead to the dog being permanently muzzled, on leash and branded a breed that doesn’t even have a clear definition, but that has been deemed and labeled ‘dangerous’.

While all our dogs at the Orphanage are rescues this is the only time we have asked for help. As with our horses, The Last Ark serves as a voice for the voiceless and offers a platform for the misunderstood and abused to be seen, honoured and heard. And we intend to do just that with this breed/type of wonderful dog to help eradicate the stigma attached, and prove that there are truly no bad dogs only bad, ignorant and irresponsible owners.

As fate would have it and by the skin of our teeth, we are in a position to help in the release of two beautiful young ‘Bully’ males whose lives are scheduled to be terminated Jan 1 2024. However, the costs are high to get them to the farm. We desperately need help with medical bills, vaccinations, castrations for both, health and travel certificates, and transportation including crates and flights.

On the other side, we will make them their own individual giant dog runs with kennels to live in throughout the duration of their quarantine, initial training and integration process. Your support in helping us get these boys to safety while documenting their journey to share on our platform, so they can be a representative for their ‘type’ is our mission. All while they live out a life, free, in nature, playing in rivers, running in a pack and receiving the love and respect they deserve.
